At Pomeroy's we talk a lot about craft beer, but we're just as passionate about our kitchen and serving up an amazing menu. Indeed, in the latest Lonely Planet dispatch apart from being named the top choice for drinking in Christchurch, they mentioned our great pub food. 

We have tweaked the menu for the next three months with an eye to delivering fresh, seasonal flavors from local producers where possible. Our Spring menu is designed to provide a deliciously satisfying pub meal to be matched with a restorative pint or glass of wine.

SAUVIGNON BLANC 

SPY VALLEY SAUVIGNON BLANC (Marlborough)
Classic Sauvignon from this acclaimed sustainable family producer. Predominantly ripe tropical fruit flavours with subtle mineral and citrus characters. A silken texture flows through a rich mid palate and clean finish.

MAHI SAUVIGNON BLANC (Marlborough)
A burst of fruit flavours, citrus and tropical notes, complemented by some complex secondary characters from natural yeast and some barrel aging. The palate has an fleshy structure with a textural mid-palate and a long finish.

DOG POINT SAUVIGNON BLANC (Marlborough)
One of New Zealand’s great wines. Rich, lush and generous, but still taut and refreshing, fine balance of intense fruit and acidity with a long, complex, citrus-infused finish.

PEGASUS BAY SAUVIGNON SEMILLON (North Canterbury)
Aromas and flavours of passionfruit, pawpaw, Turkish musk and tropical spices intermingled with a splash of freshly crushed thyme and mint. In the mouth it is full-bodied and concentrated but muscular rather than opulent. The finish is firm, dry and lingering.

From Gisborne’s “Golden Mile”, flavours of peach, rock melon and butterscotch, rich and silken in texture.

ROD MCDONALD ‘QUARTER ACRE’ CHARDONNAY (Hawkes Bay)
Stylish, restrained but complex Chardonnay from Hawkes Bay’s wine making “Royal Family”. Ripe yellow stonefruit & citrus and nutty, toasty oak on the nose; taut, full and mouth filling on the palate with a long, balanced finish.

THE 3RD MAN RIESLING (North Canterbury)
This single vineyard wine was hand-harvested and naturally fermented with wild yeasts. Floral and honeyed on the nose, it has crisp green fruit flavours with a burst of tropical richness and a crisp, cleansing finish.

Made in an Extra Dry style this Prosecco has all the classic freshness and vibrancy one expects from the wines of the region. An aperitif style with a very fine mousse, this is made from high quality vineyards across the Veneto region.

Fine bubbles from this prestigious Otago winery. Straw gold in colour, fresh citrus and stone fruit characters on the nose. The palate has a zesty acidity, elegant and lean with a streak of minerality on the finish.

SPY VALLEY ROSE (Marlborough)
Big, vibrant Rose with intense red fruit characters, balanced by fresh acidity and a touch of tannin texture. Fresh red apple and berry aromas lead into a juicy mid palate of strawberry and citrus, finishing long, fresh and dry with a touch of tannin grip.

WILD EARTH PINOT NOIR ROSÉ (Central Otago)
Energetic aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, and red currant are underscored by gooseberry and fresh rose petals. It is a dry style Rosé with incredible concentration and sweet red fruit that is perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity which is the hallmark of wines from Gibbston. Understanding that the result often mirrors the intention, we set out to make a complex Rosé that is balanced and engaging - truly a kaleidoscope for the senses.

TW MERLOT (Gisborne)
Heady aromas of sweet plum and blackberry jam. An initial hit of sweet black fruit, ripe black berry and doris     plum. Velvet tannins support the fruit,         finishing with lingering flavours of     currant and cherry.

MOJO CABERNET SAUVIGNON (Coonawarra, Australia)
Fleshy, vibrant flavours of blackcurrant and cassis, with dashes of chocolate, almond and fresh mint balanced with acidity and oak for a silky texture with the supple tannin and a long, dry, chalky Cabernet finish.

PEGASUS BAY MERLOT CABERNET (North Canterbury)
The wine has a bright calamine hue with lively aromas and flavours suggestive of purple fleshed plums, cassis and blackberries. There are additional underlying impressions of wood smoke, cigar box, spice and dark chocolate.

ZEPPELIN ‘BIG BERTHA’ SHIRAZ 2014 (Barossa, Australia)
